SHANDUR POLO FESTIVAL TOUR

Overview

Shandur (3700 meters)above sea level  makes it the highest polo ground in the world .The Game of Kings  and the King of games is played with a festivity every year from 7th -9th July between the best Teams of Chitral and Gilgit region.

The free style polo is the National games of Gilgit and Chitral.

The initiation of this Polo between Chitral and Gilgit is by the British political agent 

Mr Evelyn Hey Cob where he played polo on moon light. 

Kalash Valley and Chitral  

Kalash people

Kalasha are a Dardic indigenous people residing in the Chitral District of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. They speak the Kalasha language, from the Dardic family of the Indo-Iranian languages, and are considered a unique tribe among the Indo-Aryan peoples.Kalash religion is similar to the religion that was practiced by Rigvedic Hinduism. Kalash have retained most of the Proto-Indo Iranian religion (Indo-European religion). The Kalash people are unique in their customs and religion.

The Hindu Kush area shares many of the traits of IIr. myths, ritual, society, and echoes many aspects of Ṛgvedic, but hardly of post-Rgvedic religion.

Tour Itinerary

D01 ISLAMABAD

Arrive at Islamabad international Airport Meet and greet and transfer to hotel for overnight

D02 ISLAMABAD/ SWAT

Drive to Swat valley en route through Charsadda lunch at Mardan later visit Takht-e-Bai bushiest monastery complex and drive to Swat v alley upon arrival transfer to Hotel

D03 SWAT/CHITRAL

Breakfast, visit the Swat Museum and drive to Chitral through Upper Dir valley, lunch at Dir and cross through Lowari tunnel to Chitral overnight at Ayun .

D04 KALASH VALLEY

Today we will visit Kalash valley Bamborait and Rumbur with 4×4 Land cruisers and later drive back to Ayun overnight.

D05 KHUNJERAB PASS-GULMIT

Breakfast drive to Chitral visit Chitral town bazar royal mosque fort and later after lunch proceed to Mastuj . Arrive and transfer to hotel and drive over Shandur Pass en route stop at Shandur Pass to see the highest POLO ground with on arrival at Mastuj transfer to PTDC Motel for Dinner and overnight at hotel

D06 SHANDUR

Early morning breakfast and leave for Shandur to witness the second day Polo match between Chitral B VS Gilgit B upon arrival witness polo match and later transfer to our campsite .Overnight in tents.

D07 SHANDUR-PHANDER

Today we will witness the Big game Final Match between Chitral and Gilgit and after lunch we may proceed to Phander, arrive and transfer to the Hotel overnight.

D08 PHANDER-HUNZA

Today we will leave for Hunza valley en route stop at Gilgit for lunch and later en route stop at Rakaposhi view point Arrive Hunza and transfer to hotel for overnight.

D09 HUNZA

Morning drive Chitral afternoon tour of Chitral town including mosque and bazaar overnight at Chitral Dinner and overnight at hotel

D10 HUNZA

Morning visit Baltit fort Baltit village and later visit Altit village and Altit fort lunch at Royal garden and later drive to Duiker to witness the sunset at Rakaposhi and Batura Mountain ranges.

D11 PASSU-GILGIT

Morning visit to Gulmit village, Passu village, Borith lake and afternoon drive back to Gilgit for overnight .

D12 GILGIT-NARAN

Morning drive to Narran en route stop at Junction point of three mountain ranges later proceed to Chilas ,lunch and drive over Babusar pass 4100 meters to Naran in the Kaghan valley.

D13 ISLAMABAD

Morning leave Islamabad via Abbott Abad ,Mansehra arrive Taxila lunch and visit Taxila Museum, Julian Monastery evening Islamabad visit Damn-e-Koh Bazar Overnight Hotel

D14 DEPARTURE

Morning transfer to the airport and fly home.
