The killer mountain as Nanga Parbat is called is the 9th highest peak in the world. The peak is 8,125 metres in height and is one of the most challenging mountains in the world to climb. Though associated with tragedies, it is not that the peak has not been scaled. Many mountaineers lost their life on way to the summit at Nanga Parbat. It was in 1953 that the Nanga Parbat was conquered by Herman Buhl.

Situated in the Himalayan Range, Nanga Parbat means naked mountain. You can take Rupal Face Trek or Fairy Meadows Trek to reach the base camp of the Nanga Parbat. Rupal Face Trek leads to the base camp of the mountain from the southern side while Fairy Meadows takes you the base camp from the northern side.

Nanga Parbat, whose name means Naked Mountain, is the ninth highest mountain in the world and 2nd highest peak in Pakistan, Nanga Parbat has always been associated with tragedies and tribulations until it was climbed in 1953. A lot of mountaineers have perished on Nanga Parbat since 1895. Even today it is claiming a heavy toll of human lives for, the mountaineers, in search of adventure and thrill, are becoming its victims in pursuit of their eagerness to find new and absolutely un-climbed routes leading to its summit.

The mountain is easy to reach ( Karakoram Highway approaches the base of the mountain from the north), but is not so easy to climb. Unstable glaciers and frequent storms and avalanches have proved hazardous.
